Layers of bureaucracy dictate how you may and may not use your private
land. Federal and state legislation protects wetland ecosystems and other
habitats for migratory birds and other fish and wildlife. Community Preservation
Committees, seeking to preserve open space, recommend controls for local
land use. Local Conservation Commissions interpret both federal and state
legislation in every community. You may be alarmed to learn that interpretations
vary throughout the state.
The Result: Same Coast, Different Town, Different Rules
Conservation groups, with a single focus of protecting our coasts, employ powerful lobbying machines. We believe in coastal conservation too. But who fights to protect our coastal property rights?
The Coastal Property Rights Alliance is on Your Side
Our mission is to bring the property owner’s voice back into the regulation process. One individual or a small group has limited ability to change these regulations. CPRA works for you on both the state and local level to protect private property rights. We assist local groups who are trying to effect change. On the state level we develop relationships with powerful Legislators to lobby for action against extremist conservation/anti growth legislation.
Turn the Tide on Regulatory Bodies
When you join CPRA we provide you with the right resources at the right time. We teach you how to protect your private property rights. We provide
proven advice on how to amend bylaws or influence a local ordinance, including
the process of placing an article on a town meeting warrant. We
educate our members on the process of securing the votes to pass that article. We provide a contact list with e-mail links to your selectmen, aldermen,
and state representatives. Our membership and resources are growing and we invite you to join us today.
